November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, accounting for 29% of all cancer deaths. Last year an estimated 213,380 new cases were diagnosed, and 160,390 patients passed away. Over 7% of Americans will develop lung cancer within their lifetime, with 84% of those dying within 5 years.
In an effort to change these figures and begin making the strides in treatment many other cancers have seen in recent years, earlier this month UGP helped produce mugs and shirts in memorial of Nick Grogan. Nick was a Chicago Fire Fighter who passed away in February of 2007 as a result of lung cancer. He was frustrated by the general lack of knowledge of lung cancer, and felt that there were not enough people surviving. Through foundations such as LUNGevity.org efforts are being made to raise money, raise awareness, and give support to victims and their families. Please visit LUNGevity’s website - www.lungevity.org - to see tips on how to donate your time or money to fight a devastating disease.

UGP is very proud to be small part of this families fight with lung cancer!
